How can I book a place on the REMO and AREA Courses?
Bookings are made via our new online booking website.
What is the Essentials Course?
The Essentials Course is a one day refresher that involves practice of all the orthopaedic, airway, ALS and spine board aspects of the AREA and REMO Courses. It is not subject to examination.
How close to the course date can I register my attendance?
It is essential that all candidates read the manual thoroughly prior to attendance. Hence no candidate will be allowed to register within 2 weeks of the first day of the course, as the steering group recommend that a minimum of 2 weeks is required to read the manual. Your pre-course information pack and manual however is usually sent out about a month prior to the course.
What happens if I cancel my reserved place?
If a cancellation is received by REMO Sports Limited greater than two calendar months prior to the course, a full refund will be given or the person can transfer to the next available course. If cancellation occurs between two calendar months and 4 weeks prior to the course, a refund of 50% will be given. If cancellation occurs with less than one calendar month remaining before the course no refund will be given. If a delegate transfers to another course and then cannot attend that course they forfeit their course fee. If a delegate fails to attend the course they forfeit their course fee.
What are REMO pitch-side bags?
During previous REMO Courses we have discussed the content requirements for a pitch-side medical bag. A pitchside medical bag has now been developed by REMO Sports Limited. These are now available either online or from the REMO and AREA courses. REMO Bags are supplied after receipt of payment. The bags are used throughout the course.
Does REMO Sports Ltd. have public liability insurance?
Remo Sports Limited has public liability insurance, which covers them against claims for some types of accidents and certain other risks. However the participants are responsible for taking out their own insurance for medical cover, accidents, loss of belongings and other risks during the course.
Is the AREA course recognised by any college bodies?
The AREA Course is accredited by the Faculty of Immediate Medical Care of the Royal College of Surgeons in Edinburgh. There are different levels of recognition of educational courses by medical bodies: approval and accreditation. The AREA Course has the highest level of recognition, which is accreditation.
Is the REMO course recognised by any college bodies?

Are the AREA and REMO Courses subject to copyright or trade mark restriction?
The AREA Course and the REMO Course have been written and developed by REMO Sports Limited. All manual and course content is owned by REMO Sports Limited and all material is subject to copyright and Trade Mark.
What do I need to do to pass the course?
ALL delegates are required to pass both a written (multiple choice questions) paper and a practical examination. Failure to pass the multiple choice paper will result in a fail. The delegate must attend the next or subsequent course to retake the multiple choice paper. There is an administration charge for this. If they cannot attend either of these courses they must retake the course. If a candidate fails the practical examination, they will be given another chance to retake the practical examination on the same day. If they fail that they must retake the whole course. The decision of the course director is final.
If successful how long does my certificate last?
Successful participants are awarded a certificate that is valid for 3 years. Recertification is required after that time. An annual practical refresher is required each year. The annual refreshers are not subject to examination.
What is APL?
Advanced Prior Learning (APL) is a term used to recognise earlier educational courses attended by an individual. It is appreciated that delegates will have attended other courses involving trauma management. Some of these courses are recognised as providing satisfactory trauma education. The APL Committee of the Trauma Steering Group of the Football Association have decided which courses should be recognised as providing satisfactory APL.
Which Courses are recognised for APL?
The REMO Course, RFU and RFL Courses are the only courses recognised as providing a satisfactory standard of teaching for APL purposes.
Why am I learning procedures that I am unable to perform because of professional body restrictions?
Participants at REMO and AREA Courses are generally doctors and physiotherapists. Regardivess of medical background, the procedures taught on the REMO and AREA Courses are to all participants. It is not expected that all people will be required or allowed to perform all activities on field. Rather that they will understand the reasons for particular interventions and be able to work in a team environment for the benefit of the athlete.
Finally
Successful attendance at either a REMO or an AREA Course demonstrates that the participant has attained and shown a level of competence in dealing with simulated emergency situations on that day. It does NOT constitute a licence to practice.
