Welcome to REMO
REMO (Resuscitation and Emergency Management Onfield) courses were started in 2001. The initiation was a lack of sports specific trauma courses. At the time there were a number of trauma courses aimed at the hospital practitioner or the pre-hospital practitioner covering vehicle related trauma. There was a need for a course that covered the emergency medical events that may be encountered by the doctor or physiotherapist covering sports teams. The courses have been developed over this period and are now providing trauma education for wide ranging sporting disciplines. So far we have provided training for medical practitioners covering over 25 different sports ranging from judo to football to rowing. We have provided training to medical personnel looking after international teams such as football, rugby, cricket, rowing and athletics.
One of the principles that differentiates the REMO Courses from other courses is that all the lecturers ONLY TEACH WHAT THEY DO. All lecturers are specialists in their field. This allows the faculty to bring a degree of experience and a depth of knowledge to the course.
The REMO course has been accredited with the Faculty of Sports and Exercise Medicine at the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland. It is recognised for 11.5 Continuing Medical Education (CME) Points. The REMO Course is currently under review for Accreditation with the Faculty of Immediate Medical Care at The Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh.
