AREA Full Course - 2 Day

Primarily for Doctors and Physiotherapists

A two day residential course aimed directly at the onfield Doctor or Physiotherapist *

The aims of the course are to provide lectures, skills station training and event incident recreation to teach and develop the emergency skills of the onfield practitioner. The majority of the course is practical and taught by experts in each discipline. Participants are provided with a comprehensive course manual of sports specific emergency care.

The range of sports covered is extensive and encompasses most competitive events both professional and amateur. The course is examined objectively and certified for three years.

Skill stations include:

• Basic & advanced life support including the use of drugs & automated external defibrillator (AED)
• Emergency airway management
• Chest emergencies
• Anaphylaxis
• Spinal injury management including Helmet REMO val/spinal boarding and transport
• Orthopaedic assessment/splinting

(* Practitioners from allied fields considered)

Accommodation

Accommodation is provided in the cost of the course. You will need to confirm with REMO 30 days prior to course start date if you require accomomodation. Otherwise contact the hotel directly on 01782 557033.

Meal

An evening meal is included on the middle night, dress is causal.

Dress

Dress for the course is appropriate clothing for treating casualties e.g. tracksuits or similar.  Please ensure you bring clothing for day two, which is suitable for outdoor activity in any weather!

Pitch-side bags

From previous courses we have run, we have been asked if the pitch side bags we use in the teaching and scenarios are available for purchase.  We now have a limited number of complete pitch side bags at the course available for purchase.  The contents of the bag are those that we feel are appropriate for the pitch side practitioner in the UK.  (For those medical staff covering overseas tours further equipment may be required)  If you wish to purchase a pitch side bag cheques will be accepted.
